Last month, the HMS HSA sponsored a holiday movie night at HMS. Over 100 students participated in a fun night with friends and in the process raised nearly $800 in cash along with 50 donated new gifts/toys. Last week, HMS students and the HSA leadership presented a check for $300 plus 25 gifts to the Hillsborough Community Assistance Network (CAN) and other $495 and 25 gifts to Feeding Hands of Hillsborough to provide to families in need in our community this holiday season.
Parents and Guardians of HMS Students, we are thrilled to announce our first virtual HMS HSA General Meeting on Thursday, 12/12/2024, at 7 PM. Special guest: Lisa Grylls-White, HMS anti-bullying specialist/counselor will talk about issues surrounding harassment & bullying among adolescents and parent tips for how to prevent & respond to concerns.
To join the virtual meeting, you have two options for attending: as a Live Participant or as a Viewer-Only Participant. Live Participants can attend and ask questions, while Viewer-Only Participants can watch the livestream without the ability to ask questions. The Google link for the option you select will be emailed to you on the day of the meeting (Thursday, 12/12). We look forward to your participation.

It's Red Ribbon Week in Hillsborough. Be a part of the movement to live life drug free. Check out the activities at HMS that include Wear Red Day this Wednesday, October 23, Canned Food Drive to support S.H.I.P. now thru October 25th, and the Red Ribbon Poster Contest due December 2nd.

Somerset County Vo-Tech will be holding their annual Open House on Saturday, October 19th. Students and parents interested in learning more about what the Vo-Tech has to offer as an alternative to Hillsborough High School or as a shared time experience with HHS should consider attending this event. HMS is open for breakfast every morning starting at 8:00 in the kitchen for students who arrive early. The breakfast platter is $2.25 but we also offer a selection of items a la carte for quick grab & go starters. Students arriving early should report to the main gym and from there can visit the cafe/kitchen for breakfast items any day. Remember: morning drop-off / study hall is from 7:30 - 8:15 a.m. daily.

HMS science teacher Sarah Marino presents the results of her research at the summer QUEST program at Princeton University where teams of science teachers from across the state dove into some environmental studies in the field and in the lab in partnership with Princeton, Tulane and Virginia Tech universities.

Registrations completed as of July 26 will be assigned AM or PM kindergarten by the end of business day on August 2.
Registrants completed after July 26 can check Genesis within two weeks after their registration is completed to identify AM or PM kindergarten.
Transportation Assignments:
- Registrations completed by July 26 will have bus assignments in place for the first day of school (September 5)
- Registrations completed after July 26 and before September 5 - assignments could take up to two weeks for bus assignments.
- Registrations completed after the first day of school (September 5), transportation may not have transportation assigned until September 30.
Daycare/Babysitter forms:
- Must be received by July 26, to be in place for the first day of school (September 5)
- Those received after July 26 and before September 5, could take up to two weeks before transportation is assigned.
- Forms received after the first day of school (September 5) - transportation may not be assigned until September 30.

This is an important day for all Americans to remember. Our Superintendent, like many other in our community, had a family member that was a part of this campaign which helped changed the world. It's a great day to pause and reflect on the meaning of sacrifice and doing the right thing.
