Pick up and drop off Procedure

So how do I go about dropping-off or picking-up my child?

Dropping Your Child Off at School

Please be patient during the first days of school. In order to keep everyone safe and comfortable during these unprecedented times, we are accepting many more parent drop-offs than we typically do.  It will take a few days of each cohort to troubleshoot and have things running smoothly.  There is limited space in the back driveway, so please keep things moving as quickly and safely as possible.  Be patient with my staff as well as the other parents.

Thank you for your close attention to these instructions for dropping off your child at HES during the 2020-2021 school year. Please note that this process may change as we continue to respond to COVID and monitor all procedures. We all want this to be a safe and efficient process, and this will take flexibility and working collaboratively.

If you chose Hybrid and declined transportation (you will be driving your child to and from school) or in the case of an emergency and you must drive your child to or from school,  here are the procedures to follow:

8:20 AM - 8:30 AM PARENT DROP-OFF:

  • Pull in the second driveway (next to the school entrance) by the little red schoolhouse. Follow the driveway around to the back of the school.

  • Parents must remain in their cars at all times and wait until it is their turn to drop-off.  THIS IS A DROP AND GO.  Your child(ren) must exit via the passenger side of the car. Kiss your child(ren) goodbye at home and arrange the car for easy exiting.

  • Wait for the signal from the staff member. Two to three cars will drop-off at the same time located where the red star is on the map.

  • Drop off takes place between 8:20 AM and 8:30 AM. Staff will wait until all cars have unloaded, so do not panic, but be on time.

  • Please wait for the orange cones to be placed in the driveway before you have your child get out of the car.

  • Students will enter the building through the cafeteria.

Hybrid students who are late to school must be buzzed in by the main office, and the parent/guardian must accompany the student to sign her/him in.

Picking Your Child Up From School

Please be patient during the first days of school. In order to keep everyone safe and comfortable during these unprecedented times, we are accepting many more parent pick-ups than we typically do.  It will take a few days of each cohort to troubleshoot and have things running smoothly.  There is limited space in the front driveway, so please keep things moving as quickly and safely as possible.  Be patient with my staff as well as the other parents.

Keep in mind that Parent Pick-up is occurring after the buses depart, and buses are often late on the first few days of school.  Parents will not be allowed into the front driveway until the buses depart. You may wish to wait in the Shoprite Parking lot until you see our buses leaving the school. Please be careful turning onto Amwell Road and Rt. 206.

Thank you for your close attention to these instructions for picking up your child from HES during the 2020-2021 school year. Please note that this process may change as we continue to respond to COVID and monitor all procedures. We all want this to be a safe and efficient process, and this will take collaborative and flexibility.

If you must change your typical dismissal for one day, please do so through the Dismissal Change Request found on the homepage. Reasons for using this form include: picking-up early, not taking the bus, not attending aftercare, etc. This form is not to be used to report your child late to school or for an absence.

If you chose the Hybrid Model and Parent Pick-Up (no bus) or in the case of an emergency, here are the procedures to follow:

12:40 PM PARENT PICK-UP:

  • Parents who chose Parent Pick-Up via the HTPS Survey will be provided a number to be placed on the passenger side dashboard or windshield. This number was either delivered prior to the first day of hybrid learning or at the time of first pickup.

  • Parent Pick-Up will take place at the main entrance to HES which is on the Rt. 206 side of the building

  • A Yellow Safety Figure with a Flag will indicate when the driveway is clear for parents to enter. If there is no Yellow Safety Figure with a Flag, do not turn into the driveway

  • Drive carefully through the parking lot to the main entrance on the 206 side of the building. Adhere to the stop sign. If you opted for Parent Pick-Up via the survey, be sure that the assigned number is placed on the passenger side car window. This must be present for pick up. Whoever is picking up your child from school must know this number for added security purposes.
