Kindergarten students are off to a great start! We are adjusting to our new classroom routines, creating classroom rules and learning about our character trait – RESPONSIBILITY. It is your child’s RESPONSIBILITY to follow ALL classroom rules and to make “good choices” each day. We are also learning how to unpack our things and put papers in our folders. Please have your child practice putting papers in their folder and opening and closing their backpacks independently. Please be reminded that we do not have water fountains in the classroom so you may pack a water bottle for your child each day.
We are strengthening our fine motor skills as well practicing cutting, writing, gluing and proper grip when holding a pencil/crayon. Please be aware of these skills and help your child along at home. We are practicing name writing, letter recognition and sound recognition, counting objects, days of the week and months of the year. Your child should be practicing their cutting and gluing at home. Kindergartners love to create and make things with paper, glue, crayons and scissors.
*Please note that your child needs to bring their folder with them DAILY since it is part of our morning routine.
*Please be sure your child has a healthy snack and a drink each day. We cannot provide snacks for our students.
*Math notebooks go home on Mondays and are due back by Fridays. Please feel free to send them back earlier. Remember DO NOT rip any of the pages out. The book mark will keep your place.
